Cross Enrollment

A student is eligible to participate in the Intersegmental Cross Enrollment Program if he/she meets all of the following
requirements:

• California Resident
• Completed at least one term as a matriculated student and has completed 12 units of degree applicable work at the home institution.
• Enrolled in a minimum of 6 units at the home institution during the same term of program participation.
• Earned a cumulative GPA of 2.0 (grade of C) for all work completed at the home institution.
• Paid appropriate tuition and fees at the home institution for the term of participation.
• Has not been academically disqualified from either institution.
• For Non-UCSB students:

i. Earned an average grade of a C or P in all courses taken in previous terms at UCSB.
ii. If not in good academic standing at UCSB, students may request to repeat a previously failed class in order to
improve their academic standing.
iii. Students may request to repeat a course once. Future attempts will be denied.

  TAG does not apply to students approaching senior class standing (students with 80 or more UC-transferable semester
  units/120 or more quarter units) from accredited four-year universities or from accredited four-year universities and community
  colleges combined. All students should select their major carefully and complete as much major preparation as possible prior
  to transfer.
  ▶ A maximum of 70 UC-transferable semester units (105 quarter units) of lower-division coursework from any college or
  university will transfer to UC. Subject credit is awarded for courses taken beyond 70 semester units (105 quarter units).
  ▶ Any lower-division coursework completed at any UC campus, including UC Extension, will not apply to the 70 semester
  unit (105 quarter unit) limitation. All transferable UC units will apply toward the 80 semester unit (120 quarter unit) limit
  for TAG.
  ▶ All UC-transferable upper-division coursework completed at any four-year university will apply toward the 80 semester
  unit (120 quarter unit) limit for TAG.

The enrollment conditions necessary to participate in the program are as follows:

• Approval is valid only for the term specified and subject to space availability, deadlines, registration procedures, and priorities of each respective institution.
• Enrollment is limited to one course per term of participation, with exception to courses with labs.
• Enrollment in pre-college courses are excluded.
• The non-refundable administrative fee is a per-unit charge based on the current California Community College unit rate and is payable to the host institution upon program enrollment. The rate is subject to change.
• Additional fees (lab, materials, breakage, printing, etc.) and book costs are the responsibility of the program participants.
• Academic advising is only available at the participants’ home institution.
• Program participants are urged to secure approval from home institution advising in regards to course
  applicability to degree requirements.
• Program participants must provide evidence that all course prerequisites have been met (transcripts or grade reports).
• Financial aid is available only through the participant’s home institution.
• Health services at the host institution are limited to treatment for emergencies.
• Participants are not eligible for student services (i.e. career services, recreation center, housing, sporting events, etc.) at the host institution.
• Parking is available for a fee. Program participants’ should inquire with the host institution’s Parking Services.
• Program participants’ will need to purchase an ACCESS card for library and printing services.
• Approved students will receive email instructions for setting up a UCSBnetID and UCSB Umail account. Both are needed to access GauchoSpace, a course material
• Students who wish to stop attending must process a withdrawal at the host institution’s Office of the Registrar. Otherwise, an unsatisfactory grade will be recorded to the student’s academic record.
•  Participants are subject to all administrative procedures of the host institution while enrolled in the Program. This includes the Student Conduct Code and the enrollment requirements for course drops and other changes.

• If a student takes a class at UCSB and earns a C minus (C-) grade or lower, the student's admission to ANY UC may be jeopardized because of a deficient UC GPA.
• Substandard grades earned at a UC campus can only be repeated at a UC campus to alleviate the GPA. The student may repeat the course only once through the Inter-segmental Cross Enrollment Program or during summer school.
• A student should consider taking the class Pass/No Pass if the class is not required in preparation for a major.
• The Quarter System is ten weeks long, and it moves very rapidly.
• The student should use tutoring services if available.

1. Complete the student certification section below. After submitting, this form will be sent to your home campus for your eligibility
certification. Afterward, this form will then be sent to your instructor for signature. If necessary, student may need to provide an unofficial
transcript to the instructor to support the completion of pre-requisite requirements.

2. After the 6th day of instruction and before the add deadline, the instructor can review and sign this form. If necessary, student may need to
provide an unofficial transcript to the instructor to support the completion of pre-requisite requirements. Please assure you entered the
instructor’s email correctly.

3. Pay the non-refundable administrative fee using the link that will be provided to you via email from the Special Enrollment Coordinator. The
non-refundable fee is a per-unit fee charged at the current California Community College unit rate and is subject to change. Receipt of
payment will be sent to the Office of the Registrar, and will enroll you in the course once all steps have been completed.

4. Applications are not accepted beyond UCSB’s published ADD deadline.The UCSB Cross-Enrollment process is initiated at Santa Barbara City College. An advising session from your academic counselor is highly recommended. 

The cross-enrollment application is attached; it is highly recommended that you speak with your academic counselor prior to enrolling in a UCSB course.

Please Note: The form must be submitted to the Office of the Registrar at UCSB no later than the 'add course' deadline for the appropriate quarter.
